project kit five (now Stages) – a first glance

2 05 2008

Hi,

the next major project kit version (now Stages) will be field tested during the upcoming weeks. It will be called “Stages” and contains some exciting new features for managing your processes. The hottest issues are:

  • A fully automated metrics collection and reporting engine helps you in defining and measuring product, project and process metrics.
  • The new process version and configuration management allows you to version process elements, baseline them and release process configurations to your users.
  • A process wiki will collect all your valuable knowledge that is not already contained in your process descriptions or does not fit there. The wiki allows you to use project kit (now Stages) as a complete process asset library and is a great assistance for rolling out your processes.

If the field tests are successful, Stages will hit the stores somewhere in May.

Stay tuned for more info.

Integrating project kit into the SAP NetWeaver Portal

31 03 2008

Recently, we integrated project kit into the SAP NetWeaver portal running in production at a big customer. It worked very smoothly and required no system changes except for a little configuration on the SAP portal side. We used the Application Integrator of the SAP portal and were able to get project kit integrated within a few minutes.

For more information refer to the SAP Application Integrator.

The customer is now able to use Single Sign On (SSO) from the SAP portal to access project kit without re-authentication. Users just click on the “project kit” link in the portal and directly access their project documents and process data without having to log in again. This seamlessly works with the user mapping features of the SAP portal and just requires configuring the correct variable names. It is not very hard to guess, that they are named “username” and “password”… :)

Contact us for more info, if you have a SAP portal running and like to integrate project kit into it.
